Software Tips for Slavic Supervisors

Dear Slavic Colleagues,

Over the years, I’ve often been asked by Slavic lawyers to help with the problem of omitting articles in their writing. If you find an associate struggling with this issue, let me recommend some software solutions.

Grammarly

If you haven’t used Grammarly yet, it’s a great tool for helping with common issues in your legal writing. And, it’s especially useful for helping Slavic lawyers spot missing articles in their writing. For example, consider the following two sentences:

  • Lawyer reviewed contract and found several issues. Client was advised to address concerns with partner.

When I put the above text into Grammarly, it correctly spotted all four of the missing articles. You can see below for a screen shot of the Grammarly analysis:

Chat Gpt

You can also use Chat Gpt to achieve results similar to Grammarly. In particular, you will find the following prompt helpful for identifying missing articles as well as recommending revisions.

Prompt

I would like assistance ensuring that I properly use articles in my writing. Please assume the role of a legal writing expert and help me with the following text. In particular, please (i) analyze the text and highlight the nouns in bold that are missing articles and (ii) revise the text to demonstrate the correct article usage. Here is the text: (insert text)

See below for Chat Gpt’s response to the above prompt.

Certainly! Let's start by analyzing the text and highlighting the nouns missing articles:

Lawyer reviewed contract and found several issues. Client was advised to address concerns with partner.

Now, I will revise the text to demonstrate the correct article usage:

The lawyer reviewed the contract and found several issues. The client was advised to address the concerns with a partner.
